Director: Name in blue
The rest:
- Man's Castle (1933) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uEX2f4UhT8
- Hypocrites (1915) Lois Weber may be one of the first female directors, but she is not among the best. Snore. Zzzzzzz.....
- Sagan (2008)
- La belle équipe (1936)
- Bacheha-Ye aseman/Children of Heaven (1997) Kind of endearing. It made me cry, even though I didn't want it to.
- Hypocrites (1915)
- Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) Terrible, but at least it brought me to a greater understanding of how things work in Kazakhstan.
- Wanted (2008) A tad better than Borat, but that's not saying much. It was a total rip-off of The Matrix.
- The Gold Rush (1925)
- Tatie Danielle (1990)
- 35 rhums (2008) (Theater)
- Trucker (2008) (Theater) This film is laughably bad, but guess what? It's obvious that a lot of work was put into it. Michelle Monaghan is fab and child-actor Jimmy Bennett is really great. But actually the IMDB reviews weren't lying about the bad dialog.
- Crack-Up (1946) This wasn't as remarkable as some other noirs, but it's worth it for Claire Trevor. She really is outrageous.
- Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky (2008) (Theater)
- Up (2009) (Theater)
- Banjo on My Knee (1936) Kind of a lame Barbara Stanwyck vehicle that gets semi-better as it goes on. Even though she has prefect elocution for a girl that's supposed be backwards and from Tennessee (redunant? sorry.), still the movie increases with its charm.
- The Westerner (1940)
- Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) (Theater)
- Tatarak/Sweet Rush (2009) (Theater)
- La teta asustada / The Milk of Sorrow (2009) (Theater)
- Madeo (2009) (Theater)
French films (TV5Monde):
- Les aventuriers des mers du Sud (2006) (cable, partial viewing) It's a testament that this movie is so good that I randomly turned on TV5, and just couldn't turn it off. With performances by Jane Birkin and Geraldine Chaplin, it tells of the final days of Robert Louis Stevenson. It's not a masterpiece, but was quite interesting. Now I just have to catch the first hour sometime!
- Le crime est notre affaire (2008) Avec (Starring) Catherine Frot
- Dialogue avec mon jardinier /Conversations with My Gardener (2007) Ah, this sad and funny movie was worth it. Daniel Auteuil is one of my favorite actors, and Jean Becker is a totally capable director.
- Mon frère se marie/My Brother is Getting Married (2006) I love Aurore Clément. This was supposed to be a comedy, but really, it was just a sad film. I was glad when it was over, but there were some redeeming qualities about it.
Costa-Gavras:
Mike Leigh:
- The Short & Curlies (1987, short) (TV)
- High Hopes (1988)
- A Sense of History (1992, short) (TV)
- Grown-Ups Audio Commentary
- Meantime (1984) (TV) Oh man, this was a real disappointment. Just about as boring as Bleak Moments.
- "Play for Today: Who's Who (#9.15)" (1979) Lots of chatty dialogue about the celebs of the day. My favorite part was the Petula Clark bit.
- "Arena: Mike Leigh Making Plays" (1982) Both informative and fun.
- The Conversation - Will Self Interviews Mike Leigh (at The Scar)
- Grief: Bel Mooney interviews Mike Leigh
- Naked (1993)
- "Second City Firsts: The Permissive Society (#4.4)" (1975)
- Secrets & Lies (1996) REWATCH - 2nd viewing
- The Five Minute Films (1975) (TV):
-A Light Snack 6/10
-The Birth of the 2001 FA Cup Final Goalie 7.5/10 funny
-Old Chums 6.5/10
The friend of a disabled man is keeping him from "pushing off" so he can view a movie.
-Afternoon 6.25/10
Two more experienced married women laugh at the ideals of a young, newly-wed girl.
-Probation 6.5/10
A black teenager is most likely accused of a crime he didn't do. There is no proof of what he did one way or another.
Extra-curricular activities:

Alain Resnais:
- Je t'aime, je t'aime (1968) (Theater)
Rene Clair:
- Entr'acte (1924)
- The Ghost Goes West (1935) Nearly gave up on this, but strangely enough it got better.
- It Happened Tomorrow (1944) Screenshots to come. This one was fantastic!
- Quatorze Juillet (1933) I've been seeing too many French films from the thirties lately, and they're unfortunately starting to blend together. Crazy!
- Paris qui dort (1925)
- Un chapeau de paille d'Italie (1928)
- Le fantôme du Moulin-Rouge (1925)
- Le voyage imaginaire (1925)
Guy Maddin:
Jean Renoir:
- Toni (1935) Recommended by: Anne Fontaine, Jos, Nadafingah
- La fille de l'eau(1925) IMDB calls this film Whirlpool of Fate, but I call it Water Girl.
Shorts:
- Alice Solves the Puzzle (1925)
- Le film à venir (1997) Raoul Ruiz The film wasn't as juicy as it could have been, but it was somewhat amusing and the photography was thoughtful.

- Loose Ends (1979) http://vimeo.com/2995641
